Throughout New Orleans and well beyond, the holiday season is heating up with bonfire fun. Both stunning sites and warm gatherings, holiday bonfires are a sure sign that the holiday have arrived in Louisiana. Check out a few of this year’s firey festivities that are fun for the entire family.
Algiers Bonfire & Concert
The historic Algiers neighborhood is home to an annual holiday tradition loved by many. This year’s Algiers Bonfire takes place Saturday, Dec. 7. As always, the beloved bonfire will overlook the riverfront along the Algiers Ferry Landing. Guests can enjoy bites and snacks from local vendors, unique bonfire sculptures, and live music performances by the All Saints Church Choir, the Landy-Walker Marching Band and DJ Rik Ducci. Bring your family, friends or a special someone to light up the holiday season with.
Festival of Bonfires
This weekend-long event is yet another festive favorite during the holiday season. Held in St. James Parish, this Cajun-style bonfire takes place Dec. 13-15 with three days filled with jam-packed fun. Live music, children’s activities, contests and more are available guests. Christmas Eve Bonfires
Travel an hour outside of New Orleans to cajun country and see the bonfires light the way for Papa Noel. Gray Line Tours offers a bus from New Orleans to the festivities, led by a police escort.
